Diabetes Screenings The American Diabetes Association recommends testing for everyone age 45 and up. Diabetes checks are available in the Diabetes Services offices at St. Nicholas Hospital and Prevea Plymouth Health Center, by appointment only. There is no charge. To make an appointment, please call 920-459-5192. Diabetes Support Group Prevea Endocrinology would like to introduce a new monthly support group that focuses on dealing with diabetes. The group will be open to anyone in the Sheboygan community with diabetes and members of this confidential group will determine goals and guidelines. The purpose of the group will be to:
•Enlighten each other on treatments and practices
•Provide resources and education with guest speakers
•Offer support and an open forum to discuss stressors
•Suggest successful tactics that may help others
Diabetes is a disease that affects many areas of a person's daily life and group support can bring ideas to improve management, or provide an outlet for frustrations. Meeting with other patients who share similar experiences can be helpful for coping with this chronic disease.
This support group meets the first Thursday of each month. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.Living Well with Chronic Conditions Class Living Well with Chronic Conditions (the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program) is a 6-week workshop. It teaches real-life skills for living a full, healthy life with a chronic condition such as: cancer,diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain and anxiety.
Classes are fun and interactive. Participants share their successes and build a common source of support. The workshop builds confidence around managing health, staying active and enjoying life! |
