When is the Freedom Run?

The Freedom Run is a 5-Mile Run, 2-Mile Run/Walk scheduled for Monday, July 4, 2011.  

Where is the Freedom Run course?

It is a calibrated route along beautiful Lake Michigan starting and ending at Sheboygan County YMCA, 812 Broughton Drive.

From I-43, take Hwy. 23 East, which becomes Kohler Memorial Drive and eventually Erie Avenue, to Sixth Street.  Turn right, go six blocks to Pennsylvania Avenue.  Turn left, go three blocks to Broughton Drive. 


Parking is available at the Sheboygan Armory, located at the corner of Pennsylvania and Broughton. Race registration is at the YMCA, three blocks north of the Armory. Traffic coming into the city may be heavy due to the parade which begins at 9:00 a.m.

Who is the Beneficiary?

Proceeds from the Freedom Run benefit community education programs and outreach initiatives sponsored by St. Nicholas Hospital.

  • Community Education has a variety of health education classes and outreach activities which help the community learn more about and take control of their health. Many of the programs are offered for free or at a minimal charge.
  • HALO (Hope After Loss Organization) an initiative offering patients, non-patients, and their families support when they experience losses associated with pregnancies.
  • Friends Outreach offers a variety of health services that include holding health education sessions and screenings, promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles, raising awareness in the community on the issue of domestic violence, and broadening programs that help undeserved and minority individuals and families.
  • Friends of St. Nicholas Hospital supports Hospital initiatives where needed.

What is the event schedule?

Registration and Check-in Day-of-Registration available from 6:00-6:30 a.m. at the Sheboygan County YMCA.
On-line registration is available until Noon on June 29, 2011.
Run/Walk will start 7:00 a.m.
Awards ceremony Follows the race.
Showers In cooperation with the Sheboygan County YMCA, showers will be available until 11:00 a.m. to all entrants after the event.  Please remove all personal belongings from the YMCA by 11:00 a.m.

*There is an additional charge of $5.00 for registrations after June 7, 2011.

Packets may be picked up at the Sheboygan County YMCA from 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1 or 7:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. Day-of-race registration is available at the Sheboygan County YMCA from 6:00 - 6:30 a.m. Online registration is available until NOON on June 29, 2010.


What do I get for participating? 

T-shirts guaranteed to every participant who registers before June 7, 2011.  Trophies to the overall run winners based on official start time. Medals will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place finishers in each age group.  Awards given in both male and female categories.  Awards ceremony follows the race.  You must be present at the awards ceremony to pick up your award; awards will not be mailed.   

How do I get results?

Results will be posted at the Sheboygan County YMCA and in The Sheboygan Press. Also look for online results at posted by Prime Time Timing.  Results will not be mailed.
