When babies come into our lives and are too quickly and quietly gone...they leave lasting footprints on our hearts. At St. Nicholas Hospital, we believe those lives are precious and should be honored and remembered no matter how brief their life was.

HALO - Hope After Loss Organization at St. Nicholas Hospital was created to support parents and their families with bereavement support and resources offered as a courtesy to anyone...

• Experiencing miscarriage, ectopic, stillbirth, or early newborn death regardless of when or where the loss took place
• Needing post abortion grief support for elective or medical terminations performed at a facility other than St. Nicholas Hospital
• Involved in the loss; including siblings, grandparents, and other family/friends
• With concerns during possible subsequent pregnancies or experiencing infertility issues
• Dealing with the diagnosis of a fetal anomaly not compatible with life outside the womb

Comfort is given in every area of need: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Guidance is offered to enable the family to make decisions when they face the devastating loss of their baby. HALO helps to take some of the fear out of the situation. For most families, this is unchartered territory and they have great anxiety over what is going to happen to them and their baby. By showing and sharing with them what happened in other circumstances similar to their own, they find they are able to help turn this horrible situation into a wonderfully enriching and memorable experience that is uniquely their own.
