FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Diabetes and You Sheboygan, Wis. Nearly 24 million children and adults in the United States live with diabetes. In fact, if current trends continue, one in three children born today will face a future with diabetes. American Diabetes Month® is celebrated in November. Diabetes is a serious disease that leads to potentially life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and extremity amputation. These statistics, coupled with the personal struggles of people with diabetes and their loved ones, underscore the need for action to prevent diabetes. St. Nicholas Hospital is holding a Diabetes & You Forum on Saturday, November 7, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., in recognition of American Diabetes Month. The Diabetes Forum will focus on helping people who struggle with the disease. "Optimizing Diabetes Care"will be presented by Warren Brauer, MD, Marsho Family Medical Group. Lynn Hening, RN, BSN, Diabetes Educator, and Amy Gumieny, RN, BSN, CDE, Diabetes Educator, will discuss "What's Your Number?" Registration is recommended as seating is limited.
