FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Good Friday Blood Drive Helps Connect Local Patients and Donors Duing the Easter Holiday Sheboygan, Wis. --The 11th Annual Good Friday Blood Drive sponsored by St. Nicholas Hospital and the Sheboygan Area Catholic Parishes will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Christopher room, located at the west entrance (lower level) of St. Nicholas Hospital, 3100 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan . The BloodCenter of Wisconsin provides all blood and blood products used by all local hospitals, including St. Nicholas Hospita,l and more than 50 Wisconsin medical centers. The community is especially encouraged to give at this drive in support of patients during Easter weekend. The combination of fewer blood donors and increased travel during most holidays can put pressure on the area's blood supply. To help offset these circumstances, a target of 65 donors has been established. Basic requirements for donating include being at least 17 years old (Sixteen year olds can also donate with parental consent), weighing at least 110 pounds, and in general good health. It takes less than an hour to donate a pint of whole blood, and with one donation, you can save up to three lives. To ensure a great donation, donors should drink plenty of water, have a snack before giving, and remember to bring their picture ID. A special snack will be provided for donors observing the religious customs of Lent. Appointments are recommended, but walk-in donors are welcomed. For more information about the Blood Drive, or to sign up, call St. Nicholas Hospital at 920/459-4636. About St. Nicholas Hospital To learn more, visit www.stnicholashospital.org . CONTACT: Xue Yang
