St. Nicholas Holds First Medical Equipment Drive in Sheboygan
Sheboygan , Wis. — Sheboygan area residents who have medical equipment items that are no longer needed, now have a way to dispose of them and help others at the same time. St. Nicholas Hospital will host the area's first Medical Equipment Drive on Saturday, May 21, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., in the hospital parking lot on the corner of Superior Avenue and Taylor Drive.
Items will be distributed to needy people around the world by Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, based in Springfield, Illinois. This not-for-profit group has distributed more than 3-million pounds of health care items to the needy. Donations have improved access to quality health care in more than 58 countries, including those suffering recent tragedies such as Japan and Haiti.
"This is a great opportunity for people to clean out their closets, basements and garages to provide help to people around the world, and at the same time, prevent these items from ending up in landfills," said Andy Bagnall, President & CEO, St. Nicholas Hospital.
The public is welcome to bring gently used items such as:
There is no charge for drop-off. "When we talk about our own collection of these items within the hospital, people want to know what they can do with their equipment at home. We're happy to provide this service to the community," said Darrell Elmer, Biomedical Technician, St. Nicholas Hospital and event committee member.
Please limit your donations to medical equipments and do not bring expired or unused medications.
