FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE St. Mary's Hospital Cancer Center Open House for General Public, January 16 Green Bay, Wis. A new door to hope is opening. The St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center is collaborating with St. Mary's Hospital and Green Bay Oncology to invite the general public to a special open house at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday, January 16, from 10 a.m.2 p.m. Come experience the new, state-of-the-art facility that focuses on delivering hope to patients through the latest medical technology, cutting-edge cancer research, integrated treatment options and access to specialists Green Bay has trusted for decades. Guests will be able to leave their own impression of what hope is to them, on an interactive, computerized, wall display. The new lobby and atrium for St. Mary's Hospital will also be featured in the open house. Patients will experience a private entrance for cancer care, electronic medical records for medical and radiation oncology plus private communication systems for staff consults. This warm and spiritual atmosphere includes 2,400 square feet of ground level healing gardens and water features plus a 22,000 square foot living roof with walking paths for patients and families to rest and reflect. State-of-the-art equipment includes, a CT simulator, 3D imagery for dosimetry, a Trilogy® linear accelerator and chemotherapy treatment area with private and semi-private options. This expansion was built with the environment in mind as it maximizes use of day light, 90 percent of rainwater is recycled as irrigation and all storm water passes through a bio-filtration system to purify runoff water. Water-saver technology is used throughout the building and materials are low-PVC or PVC-free with natural finishes of wood and stone. Energy efficient heating and cooling was installed with heat reclamation devices in place. More than 88 percent of construction materials were recycled into 14 different waste streams.
