FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE St. Nicholas Hospital Receives the EnvironLITE Achievement Award St. Nicholas Hospital recently replaced 160 exterior parking light fixtures from 250 watt high pressure sodium to 200 watt pulse start metal halide technology. This award recognizes the investment and commitment the Hospital has put in reducing energy consumption by installing energy efficient lighting systems. The advantages to the new light bulbs are:
In addition to annul energy cost savings of $3,434, the Hospital received $1,794 from Focus on Energy to help supplement the upfront cost of the energy savings project.
The Hospital is looking at a process called "group relamping". Provided that lamps last the guaranteed two year minimum, the Hospital would replace all the lamps on a two year schedule, saving the labor cost of continually replacing individual lamps because they are all at a different stage in their life cycle. The Hospital is also in the process of replacing all the old style (T12) fluorescent lighting in the interior of the facility to a higher energy efficient style fixture which will be a huge cost savings to the hospital.
