St. Nicholas Hospital Laboratory Receives Accreditation from the College of American Pathologists
Sheboygan , Wis. --The St. Nicholas Hospital Laboratory has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on results of a recent on-site inspection.
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is designed to go beyond regulatory compliance. It also provides a foundation for quality practices and helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.
"I am honored to work at a facility that prides itself in providing a high level of care and services to our patients and physicians," said Michele Oostdyk, Assistant Administrator Patient Services.
During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff's qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. The stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory's patients.
"Our laboratory staff works very hard on a daily basis to deliver the quality of care that the CAP has determined as the standard," said Lynn Jelenc, Laboratory Services Director. "I am proud of my staff for their achievement and their on-going efforts to meet these standards. I am also honored to be a part of the on-going commitment these individuals have demonstrated and made to high-quality patient care."
