FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE William Pao, M.D., Receives the Cancer Liaison Physician Award The Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award recognized 55 physicians nationwide this year who have gone above and beyond expectations to improve and provide direction to their cancer program. Dr. Pao, who was nominated by Cancer Committee members at St. Nicholas Hospital, has exhibited outstanding leadership and guidance as the Cancer Liaison Physician of the cancer program at St. Nicholas Hospital. Cancer Liaison Physicians are volunteer physicians responsible for providing the leadership and direction to establish, maintain, and support their facility's cancer program. They are charged with the task of spearheading Commission on Cancer activities at the facility and community level. "Dr. Pao has continued to serve the Cancer Program in the position of Cancer Liaison Physician for many, many years and not only meets but goes above and beyond the eligibility criteria which truly make him an outstanding physician to his colleagues, a hero to the Cancer Registry, and the champion of the St. Nicholas Hospital Cancer Program," wrote Alberta Caughey, Cancer Registrar, in her nomination letter. In addition, Mary Schueller, RN, wrote in her nomination letter which addressed his activities on the community level, "His sense of humor and ability to present sometimes complex information in a very easy to understand format has made him a favorite among the Man to Man support group attendees."
