St. Nicholas Hospital Emergency Department Honored with a 2009 PRC Excellence in Healthcare 5-Star Award

Sheboygan, Wis. —The St. Nicholas Hospital Emergency Department earned the 2009 Professional Research Consultants (PRC) Excellence in Healthcare 5-Star Award for excellent overall quality of care. The award is based on patient perception survey results.

"This award recognizes our Emergency Department staff and physicians for truly making St. Nicholas Hospital the right choice for patients during an emergency," said Mary Brasseaux, CEO.

The research for the PRC 5-Star Excellence in Healthcare Award is conducted by obtaining the opinions of patients at St. Nicholas Hospital via telephone for a confidential interview to assess their perception of the Emergency Department during their visit to the Hospital. This award is given to healthcare facilities, providers, outpatient service lines, or inpatient units who scored in the top ten percent (at or above the 90th percentile) being rated as "Excellent" in the Overall Quality of Care question.

The research findings will also be used to continuously improve and enhance patient satisfaction at St. Nicholas Hospital.
