FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE St. Nicholas Hospital Honors Volunteers Sheboygan , Wis. — At St. Nicholas Hospital, there's a special group of people who perform clerical duties, manage and staff the Gift Shop, take children on hospital tours, direct patients and visitors to where they need to go, and knit prayer shawls and baby caps. These aren't hospital colleagues, but volunteers. St. Nicholas Hospital is privileged to have 221 volunteers who perform these duties and more. In 2010, those volunteers contributed 20,260 hours in service to St. Nicholas. "Every day volunteers advance the Vision of St. Nicholas Hospital of bringing Christ's healing presence to all who come to us. They help us provide family-centered compassionate care," said Cynthia Bertsch, Director, Fund Development & Advocacy, St. Nicholas Hospital. "We greatly appreciate all our volunteers who give so much of their time and of themselves to our Hospital," she said. St. Nicholas recently held a special recognition of their volunteers. A special thank you went out to Delores Trester, a hospital volunteer since 1992. She recently stepped down as Gift Shop co-manager, a role she fulfilled for 15 years.
