Our Volunteers play a vital role at St. Nicholas Hospital. Over 200 active Hospital Volunteers collectively contribute more than 25,000 hours of unpaid service each year. They are an integral part of the Hospitals operation and, together with Staff; these Volunteers add another dimension of care and compassion to those we serve.
By becoming a Volunteer at St. Nicholas Hospital, you are given opportunities to share your abilities and experiences while at the same time learn new skills and make new friends. Each day as Volunteers greet visitors with their friendly smile, escort patients, complete clerical tasks, or work in the Gift Shop, they lighten the Staffs workload, brighten many peoples spirits, and bring comfort to our patients and their families.
In addition to their volunteer hours within the Hospital, members of the auxiliary group known as Partners of St. Nicholas Hospital, provide significant financial assistance through their fund raising events. For example, Christmas Love Lights contributions support our LIFELINE program that enables individuals to continue to live independently. Earnings from the annual spring flower and book sales and the fall card party raise funds for scholarships that aid high school seniors seeking a college education that will prepare them to enter into the health care field. Moreover, each year the Partners give the Hospital a share of the Gift Shops proceeds towards the purchase of equipment to enhance patient services and comfort.
We are fortunate and grateful to have people who are generous with their time and resources.
