More than 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, but 1 out of 4 of them does not even know they have it, according to the American Diabetes Association. 

Door County Medical Center (DCMC) and Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) announced that today marks the beginning of DCMC’s official transition from its affiliation with Ascension Ministry Health Care to its partnership with HSHS.

The holiday season is full of wonderful traditions, but it can also be a time filled with stress and indulgence – both of which can be hard on the heart. On Thursday, Nov. 17, Prevea cardiologist, Dr. Jose Iturrizaga will lead a free presentation about how to care for your heart during the holidays.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, according to the CDC. HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital and Prevea Health invite the public to learn more about the importance of women’s heart health at a free presentation lead by board-certified cardiologist, Mercy Chandrasekaran, MD of the Prevea St. Nicholas Health Center. 

A Walk to Remember, a pregnancy and infant loss awareness walk hosted by Share of Northeast Wisconsin, will take place Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.

Tickets are now available for A Taste of Fall on Thursday, Sept. 15 at Lakeshore Culinary Institute in Sheboygan.

New Hospital Safety Scores, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S. health care system, were announced today by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog.
